12th October - World Arthritis Day

World Arthritis Day is an annual observance celebrated on October 12th of every year. (http://worldarthritisday.org/). Millions of people from around the world suffer from joints disorder called Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Disorders. The Day is an initiative that organizes people together to raise awareness about issues affecting people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs). The celebration of the World Arthritis Day marks the importance of earlier diagnosis and its importance of treating the disease.

The World Arthritis Day is a great occasion to discuss and analyze your own approach, your team and your institution approach to arthritis and musculoskeletal problems and to reestablish the importance of some particular aspects of treatment, the dose and the intensity of it, to make the life of your patients more free from medical care and more involved, to stimulate their participation in the regular life.

ESPRM is deeply involved in scientific and social initiatives and events devoted to Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal problems. Examples include activities of:

  • Special Interest Scientific Committee for Musculoskeletal Disorders chaired by Fitnat Dincer (http://www.esprm.net/committees-details/FMiI/persons-musculoskeletal-disorders)
  • So related with this, ESPRM Musculoskeletal Disorders Com. is conducting a research with the title of "The Treatment Approach of Physiatrists for Knee Osteoarthritis in Europe.
  • Initiative of UEMS -PRM Board TEACHING PRM TO THE UNDERGRADUATES in the "Progressive musculoskeletal disorders" Chapter covers especially,Osteoarthritis -Rheumatoid Arthritis,General overview of the main progressive musculoskeletal disorders (https://www.euro-prm.org/index.php?lang=en).
  • Scientific sessions on Musculoskeletal Disorders especially on Osteoarthritis will take place for 21st Congress of the ESPRM in Vilnius, 1-6 May, 2018 (http://www.esprm2018.com/).

A letter of intention to cooperate has been signed between ESPRM and ESCEO This letter of intention is made to promote common activities of the 2 European Societies in the field of Rehabilitation and Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases, by means of the common organization of activities at several levels. A joint session between ESCEO - IOF – ESPRM, with the participation of experts in the field, will be organized in the framework of ESPRM 2018 congress, 01-06 May 2018, in Vilnius Lithuania.
