ESPRM partner organizations

An important aim of ESPRM is to increase networks, exchange and spread knowledge in the field of RPM. ESPRM works constantly to cooperate fruitfully with relevant Societies, Foundations and Organizations working on a specific field. We have the pleasure to give an overview of agreements that have been signed with the following organizations.


European Union Geriatric Medicine Society, EUGMS

EUGMS Mission is:

To develop geriatric medicine in the member states of the European Union as an independent specialty caring for all older people with age-related conditions To support that these services become available to all citizens of the European Union.
To promote education and continuing professional development, and in particular an annual scientific meeting.
In conjunction with the Section of Geriatric Medicine of the UEMS, to promote geriatric medicine to the European Commission and Parliament.
To promote evidence-based guidelines for the most efficacious preventive and treatment strategies for older people in the European Union.

EUGMS is related with the ESPRM Special Interest Scientific Committee, (SISC) “PRM in Ageing Persons” headed by Prof. Michail Xanthi, Emeritus Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine, Athens, Greece.

This letter of intention to cooperate was made to promote common activities of the 2 European Societies in Congresses, Education and Research in the field of rehabilitation in elderly patients.

GROUPE UGECAM

GROUPE UGECAM is a major operator in France in the nonprofit sector of health and medico-social facility, willing to support the scientific and research activities of the ESPRM in the field of persons with stroke.
GROUPE UGECAM commits itself to have some of its professionals, especially from UGECAM Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur et Corse, engage in research works on stroke organized by the relevant ESPRM SISC.

GROUPE UGECAM is related with the ESPRM Special interest scientific committee (SISC) “Persons with Stroke”. The head of this committee is currently Prof. Katharina Stibrant Sunnerhagen, University of Göteborg Sweden.

As the other SISC of the ESPRM the role of the SISC on stroke is to develop three types of networks (NW):

Networks (NW) of PRM specialists and other health professionals, with an expertise in research activities in the field, networks of research facilities involved in stroke, and networks of clinical facilities with an expertise in the specific field.

Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation

Don Gnocchi Foundation provides healthcare services through its centres on an inpatient, day-hospital, outpatient or house-call basis. Most of the healthcare initiatives are for various kinds of rehabilitation, treating post-acute patients during recovery or patients with chronic conditions. The rehabilitation fields involved are neurological, cardiac, pulmonary, orthopaedic, geriatric and oncological, with an additional small number of inpatient post-acute hospitals.

Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi, is willing to support the scientific and research activities of the ESPRM in the field of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM). The Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Chair (Department of Clinical and experimental Sciences) of the University of Brescia is involved in Evidence Based Medicine activities. Head of ESPRM Special interest scientific committee (SISC) “Evidence Based Medicine (EBM)” is Prof. Stefano Negrini, University of Brescia and Fondazione Don Gnocchi, Italy.

The role of the ESPRM SISC on EBM is to develop networks (NW) of clinical facilities with an activity established on EBM together with research centers linked to "Cochrane Rehabilitation".
The targets of the cooperation between the Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi, the University of Brescia, Italy and ESPRM are:

  • First to organize international events on EBM during the next ESPRM congress 2018 in Vilnius May 1-6 (research, educational, professional and ethical events)
  • Second to facilitate the submission to EU grants, such as H2020

Cochrane Rehabilitation

Cochrane Rehabilitation was born within the ESPRM Evidence Based Committee (EBM) that started the creation of a Cochrane Rehabilitation Field in 2014. Cochrane Rehabilitation is a global network of individuals, involved in the production, dissemination, and implementation of evidence-informed clinical practice in rehabilitation.
The new Cochrane Field will promote and advocate for using the best evidence within the rehabilitation world, including physical therapy, speech and occupational therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, psychology, adapted physical activity and sports, and pharmacological treatments, to inform clinical decision-making.

Groupe RAMSAY Générale de Santé – Clinique de Provence Bourbonne

The role of the ESPRM SISC on sports affairs is to develop networks (NW) of clinical facility with an activity established on Sport Affairs together with research centers linked to Sports Affairs.
The targets of the cooperation between Ramsay Clinique de Provence Bourbonne and ESPRM are:

  • First to organize international events on Sports Affairs during the next ESPRM congress 2018 in Vilnius May 1-6 (research, educational, professional and ethical events)
  • Second to facilitate the submission to EU grants, such as H2020

European Pain Federation

The European Pain Federation is a multidisciplinary professional organisation in the field of pain research and medicine, consisting of the 37 chapters of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP®), which are the IASP approved official National Pain Societies in each country. Established in 1993, The European Pain Federation constituent chapters represent Pain Societies from 37 European countries and close to 20,000 physicians, basic researchers, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals across Europe, who are involved in pain management and pain research.


European Pain Federation is related with the ESPRM Special interest scientific committee (SISC) “Persons with Pain and Disability” The head of this committee is Prof. Roberto Casale, Scientific Director, Habilita, Care & Research Rehabilitation Hospitals. European Pain Federation School, Director.

This letter of intention (LoI) is made to promote common activities of the 2 European Societies in the field of rehabilitation and pain medicine, by means of the common organization of:

  • Congress
  • Education
  • Research
