Spinal Cord Injuries at ECPRM 2016

Despite the small number of persons with spinal cord injuries (SCI), according to WHO less than 0.1% of the population suffers by SCI, the management of SCIed persons challenges almost every aspect of the health system, the society, and almost every aspect of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine. How many times as PRM physicians haven’t we faced complicated issues post SCI concerning: the completeness or not of the somatic and autonomic nervous system lesion, education and health awareness of patients and their family members, heterotopic ossification and osteoporosis: better to prevent than treat, severe spasticity interfering with functionality, neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction and chronic pain deteriorating quality of life, women with SCI, sexuality, ageing, prognosis, and valuable exchange of experience and knowledge among different countries, these are some topics that you can enjoy during the special sessions on SCI and throughout the whole Congress in other SCI related sessions.
